"Punk Magazine Mutant Monster Beach Party"
Great exhibition. Especially for anyone's interested in history and origins on NY's Punk scene.
My main motivation for going was to meet, and thank the awesome John Holmstrom, who'd been so generous with his words, letting me include them in my book.
Below are just a couple of images from the hundreds on display. All of which are about to leave for the archival volts of Yale University, so dont sleep!

MASSIVE ATTACK V ADAM CURTIS : PARK AVENUE ARMORY 10/3/13

Normally I post about art or music that's inspired me.
Tonight those two subjects came crashing together for two wonderful hours of live music synchronized to film.
I don't have the vocabulary to describe what an immersive and goose-bump producing experience it was.
Not having been able to see Massive Attack live since I threw an illegal party with them at an abandoned cinema on Bleecker Street in 1994, this was really a thill! 
While it was cool, and the crowd seamed most excited by Elisabeth Fraser singing many of the covers that the show was made up from, my actual favorites were the renditions of "Just Like Honey" by Jesus & Mary Chain & "Bela Lugosi's Dead" by Bauhaus!  

The trailer for the show gives a little of the vibe.

JAGWAR MA at MERCURY LOUNGE 9/30/13

Having discovered this band from Oz a year ago when they dropped their first tune on SoundCloud, and then really fell in love with them with "The Throw", I was curious to see if they could be as good live as they are in the studio.
I'm guessing the show must have been somewhat of a industry showcase, as the room was a little lacking in fan vibe.
Still they managed to create some energy, and a good representation of the album. What they excel at, is turning a hooky pop type track into a monster dubbed-out dance groove, with lots of low-end acid & Madchester style bass & drums.

ATOMS FOR PEACE at BARCLAYS CENTER 9/27/13

When I was working on my book Stickers, I formed a connection to the amazing Stanley Donwood.
He's been an awesome ongoing contributor to the stickers project but this week he did me a major solid, by sorting the guest list for Atoms, who were playing just down the road.
Although I've still not met the man, and we don't tell each other too many personal things, I guess the term pen-pal is the closest I can come up with to describe the relationship we have (if people even use that anymore).
The show itself was pretty weird and wonderful. Without doubt the least arena type gig I've ever been to. Flea and the percussionist Mauro Refosco, made the whole freeform/lack of Radiohead clinical style precision a thing of joy though. Good fun!

Over the course of several days I watched this master of the streets transform a massive drab wall into an explosion of color.

10 Year's of Wooster Collective

Invited to the pre-opening event & got to meet a ton of the artists in the Jonathan LeVine/Wooster Collective pop-up show. 

Below are just a couple works I liked.

Best in show for me was Bäst's pair of guns.

Also got to meet for the time Spanish Eltono, who now lives in China & is coincidently married to an old NY Drum & Bass DJ friend. Talk about random small world
