MIKE PERRY - Wandering Around Wondering

Open Tuesday–Sunday, 1:00–6:00pm

Wandering Around Wondering is a free three-month community exhibition and series of events that will coincide with the launch of my monograph, published by Rizzoli. The event space will host workshops, screenings, gatherings, open discussions, and much more — conducted by me and a select group of design and illustration professionals. The space will become a dynamic environment for continuous creation, where visitors will be able to explore freely and create their own unique experiences.

BARRY MCGEE GOES VERY BIG IN BROOKLYN!

Was quite the early morning wicked surprise to be texted the first photo in this set by fellow Barry fanatic Jared.
Eve & I biked down the the Mark Morris Dance Center next door the BAM.
So cool having both José Parlá & Barry doing public walls within stones throw of where we live. Brooklyn Rocks! You can see scale with Eve (and her new helmet) underneath.
Detail looks great for such a monster piece.
Probably not meant to have seen this, its the layout the guys were all working from & how the wall should look when finished ; )

Chris Johanson at Mitchell-Innes & Nash

From Anti-Hero Skateboards to the Beautiful Losers movie to The Whitney Museum, in my world Chris Johanson is a legend!

I was def a bit nervous approaching him, telling him I was the sticker geek that had bugged him for months about being in the book but he was super chill & seamed genuinely pleased to meet me.

Below are some of the works in the show that spoke to me.

MR at Lehmann Maupin gallery.

I believe Japanese artist MR is known to most of us via his association with Takashi Murakami & being in his curated group shows in NY, or possibly by Supreme releasing skate decks of his art a few years back.
This is the first solo show I've seen of his & its very hard to photograph because of the chaotic nature of how the work is displayed, lots of fun.

Bäst rocks Soho!

I consider Bäst to be not only an incredible natural artist but possibly the most influential in the "mash-up wheatpaste street art" game.
A few months ago I became a buddy via our mutual friend Aiko, who brought him over to the house meet the family.
He was awesome, totally down to earth & chilled with both the kids, making stickers for Eve's scrapbook.
I believe this is his first NYC solo show & he killed it!
Below are just a few of my faves. Show is at Opera Gallery 115 Spring Street  New York, NY 10012 http://www.operagallery.com

George from Opera explaing the editioned bottle of Bäst olive oil to Kennedy (sp?)

Said olive oil now on our kitchen shelf!
