A true NYC street & design legend has a massive mid career exhibition of new works.
It was very "interesting" to see the interaction of old skool graff friends of the artist watching & mixing with the uptown fashion crowd brought together by the curators & sponsors of the show.
In 1981, long before I ever saw real graffiti, met Futura & eventually became friendly with him, I became a fan of his when I was a young punk in London because he'd designed the sleeve for the Clash single "This is Radio Clash". Since then, I've followed his many forays into mediums such as toy design, apparel, fine art & even next level Lego construction.
It was really fun bringing my son Max & his friend Isla to the show, running into Lenny (Futura) outside & him walking us passed all the security, saying "we were with him". Kids felt like celebs!
Below are some of my fave works.
